Introduction

Welcome to this short tour to samburu national park on the Northern side of kenya. Though rarely visited, the park is rich in wildlife and you will see lions, cheetahs, leopards, Elephants and many more animals very quickly. Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding savannah plains.
The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five).

The reserve is also home to elephants and large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah. ‘Kamunyak’, the miracle lioness that adopted the baby oryx was as a resident in the reserve.
Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction to this unique protected area. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded.

 

Day 1

Depart from your hotel early in the morning for Samburu national reserve with a stop at the Equator for photography. Drive to Samburu national reserve arriving at your lodge in time for lunch and afternoon relaxation. Game drives starts at 4.00pm till dusk. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Early breakfast and depart for early morning game drives. If you are lucky today, you find lions when are very active and hunting. Set your camera and binocular ready for this movie! You later exit the park with a stop on the way for your lunch and later drop to your hotel. You have a chance to share with your tour leader the events of the safari.
